Pakistan, Islamabad – According to Khan’s counsel, a Pakistani court has dismissed arrest warrants for former Prime Minister Imran Khan in a corruption case.
The court of Pakistan canceled the arrest warrant of former Imran Khan. According to Faisal Fareed Chaudhry, a member of Khan’s legal team, the court in Islamabad delayed the session and asked the former prime minister to appear at the next hearing on March 30.
Clashes between police and Khan’s Pakistani supporters
The warrants were revoked once Khan made his formal appearance in court. During clashes between police and supporters of Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party on Saturday, Khan’s car arrived at the court building’s gate.
“Imran Khan was outside the court in his vehicle, attempting to enter,” Chaudhry stated. “Yet, police did all they could to prevent him from entering the court and used violent force on his supporters.”
Earlier on Saturday, police in Lahore attacked Khan’s home, smashing down the front gate and clashing with PTI supporters. More than 60 people were detained, according to police.
The Punjab Police Inspector General, Usman Anwar, stated that police had concluded a search and discovered firearms, including Kalashnikov guns and a considerable amount of rounds.
Anwar told a press conference in Lahore that PTI workers inside the premises shot at police.
The raid included a large police presence, as well as heavy machinery and water cannons. Video shows police employing cranes to smash through the house’s main gate, following which they baton-charged PTI employees who were protesting their entry.
“Punjab police led an assault on my residence in Zaman Park, where Bushra Begum is alone,” Khan said on Twitter. “Under what authority are they acting?”
