Not only is the GCSE/IGCSE Certificate on Edexcel and Cambridge highly regarded and accepted by universities, but also the International Baccalaureate curriculum.

It is an internationally-recognised school system made up of three educational programmes:
i. PYP: Primary Years Programme (Kindergarten through Class 5)
ii. MYP: Middle Years Programme (Class 6 – Class 10).
iii. DP: The Diploma Programme (Classes 11-12).
In 1968, the International Baccalaureate Organisation was able to establish the IB program. It is a non-profit educational organization based in Geneva. The IBO, despite its Switzerland headquarters, is an international organization that is not affiliated with any country. It also does not have any national educational agendas.
Is IB restricted to students with high academic achievements or can average students apply?
The IB programme is more pragmatic and practical. The IB programme covers a wider range of subjects, which leads to all-round development.
IB exams test students’ knowledge and not speed or memory. The Middle Years Programme (Class 10) does not have examinations. The IB pedagogy focuses on “how to learn” rather than “what to learn”.
There are no pre-requisite textbooks. Students can choose the books they want.
Sometimes, however, the IB programme uses the local curriculum as a foundation. Hindi, for example, can be used in the IB Diploma Programme as a second language.
The IB curriculum is harder than other educational boards such as CBSE or ICSE. The challenge lies in the quality of the assignments and not the quantity of work.
What are the subjects in PYP?
Subjects in the Primary Years Programme (PYP) are:

Subjects in the Middle Years Programme (MYP) are:
1. 1st Language

5. Mathematics (Number, Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, and Discrete Mathematics)
6. Arts (Visual Arts and Performing Arts)

What subjects are included in DP?
Students in DP choose one subject from each of the six ‘Subject groups’.
Group 1: First Language (English)
Group 2: Second Language (French, Hindi, etc).
Group 3: Individuals and Societies. History, Economics, Business and Management.
Group 4: Sciences (Biology and Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Systems).
Group 5: Mathematics & Computer Science
Group 6: Electives (either Visual Arts, or a second subject in Groups 3, 4, or 5).
All DP students must also complete a two-year course called Theory of Knowledge, (TOK), and produce an Extended Essay.
What is TOK, EE, and CAS?
Theory of Knowledge is an essay of between 1,200 and 1,600 words on a chosen title. The essay is followed by a ten minute presentation by the DP student in class.
Extended essay help online refers to original research that leads a DP student in writing a comprehensible piece of 3,500-4,000 words on any subject or title.
Each DP student must have at least 150 hours of Creative, Action, and Service over a period of one-and-a half years. They should engage in Creativity, participate in physical Action, and do social service.
What are IB World Schools and what do they teach?
Schools that are recognized by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IB) and offer the IB curriculum, are called IB World Schools.
Only 18 IB World Schools are available in India, spread across 11 cities.
In the last five months, IB has been offered at five of these schools.

There are no IB Schools in Eastern India at the moment.
The American School of Bombay is the only IB World School to offer this curriculum. It is also India’s only IB World School that offers all three programmes: PYP, MYP, and DP.
Is it possible for a student to earn the IB Diploma while completing schooling with another board?
The PYP, MYP, and DP are all part of a continuous sequence. However, they can also be offered separately.
An IB Diploma Programme can be joined by a CBSE student to obtain 10+2 level qualifications, instead of the Class 12 CBSE/ICSE or State Board exams.
Is the IB recognized in India and around the world?
IB Diploma is recognized by universities and colleges around the globe as an excellent academic programme that meets high standards.
In May 2004, more than 50,000 students applied for the IB Diploma Programme.
IB is rated by the Association of Indian Universities as equal to ICSE, ICSE and State Boards. There are a few instances when IB students have difficulty getting into Indian universities and colleges.

Is the IB for elite only?
The IB program can be expensive. Annual fees can reach Rs 250,000.
The IBO insists that the IB program is not exclusive. The 200-student Mahatma Gandhi International School is an IB World School in Ahmedabad that allows slum children to study alongside expatriates.
